The Oxford Advantage: an innovation super-cluster

Mills & Reeve have partnered with Bidwells, one of Advanced Oxford’s members, to deliver a report on the Oxford, Cambridge, London supercluster—often referred to as the “Golden Triangle.” The report delves into the collaborative efforts of businesses in the technology, life sciences, and real estate sectors within this influential region.

These vital industry sectors are renowned for their individual strengths and global leadership. However, when they work together, supported by a robust advisory community and the necessary infrastructure, they elevate to form a formidable science and technology superpower.

Throughout 2024, Mills & Reeve and Bidwells will host three roundtable discussions to further explore these themes, each event tailored to a specific point of the Golden Triangle. These events will highlight the synergy between business and academia:

  • Oxford: Exploring the ambitions of science and technology businesses.
  • Cambridge: Bringing together life sciences businesses.
  • London: Discussing real estate and investment to ensure ongoing success.

Each event will delve into the unique offerings, nuances, and challenges of the respective locations, alongside the broader perspective of the supercluster.

Advanced Oxford’s Managing Director, Sarah Haywood, and board member, Steve Burgess, participated in the session in Oxford, along with several of our other members. The focus of this session was on how Oxfordshire is uniquely positioned to support the Government’s ambitions to become a science and tech superpower and the evolving landscape of science and technology.
