Working to support the long-term development and success of the Oxford region as a place to live and work
About us
Advanced Oxford is a group of senior leaders from the area’s major knowledge-intensive businesses who are working together to support the long-term development of the Oxford region as a dynamic and prosperous place to work and live.
What we do
Advanced Oxford is research-led, providing insight, analysis and a united voice for our members on the key issues affecting the development of the innovation ecosystem in the Oxford region. We act as the voice of the science and technology business community within Oxfordshire. Our goal is to bring the perspectives and evidence from business and put it into the hands of decision makers at all levels of government: local, county-level, super-regional and national. We operate in both a ‘push’ and a ‘pull’ way.
Push: we undertake research projects, typically using mixed method approaches, to develop thought leadership and an evidence base that can be used to drive change and identify actions. Our pipeline of projects is determined by our members and reflects key issues which determine how the region – and beyond – can be developed in a way that best supports the translation and commercialisation of science into new products, services and successful companies.
Pull: decision makers at all levels can engage with us to ensure that the needs of the science and technology business community are reflected in their activities. This might include policy formation and review, strategy development, consultations and investment decisions. We draw on the evidence collected through our projects, and on our connections and network across the region, to inform our engagement with local, regional, super-regional and national decision makers. We encourage government at all levels to get in touch so that we can support your work.
The bottom line: we want the Oxford region to be the best place possible to start and grow a science business; we want companies to locate into the region and we want to retain our fantastic community of science and technology businesses.
