Harwell’s HealthTec cluster celebrates 5th year anniversary with new strategy

Harwell Campus marked the 5th anniversary of its HealthTec Cluster on 23rd July, with a hybrid conference. Speakers, panelists and guests joined a small group of attendees for a first face to face event, hosted by the Rosalind Franklin Institute. Business Minister and Minister for Covid Vaccine Deployment, Nadhim Zahawi, MP, gave a keynote address to the conference.  Regius Professor of Medicine at University of Oxford, Professor Sir John Bell, followed, with both reflecting on the power of collaboration and the value of clusters such as Harwell in addressing the pandemic.

New Strategy for the cluster

Cluster manager, Dr Adrian Hill, gave an overview of the refreshed strategy for the cluster, which aims to grow to at least 100 life sciences and healthtec companies over ten years, generating more than 5,000 jobs.  The campus is also planning for 750 thousand square feet of new specialist accommodation for the life sciences sector on site.  Building on the campus’s strengths and scientific infrastructure, there will be a particular focus on vaccines research and development, next generation imaging, diagnostics and advanced therapies.  Harwell-HealthTec-Cluster-Strategy-2021-2031
