Alfred Flier shuttle bus Wantage Grove: new local service launches

The new Alfred Flier BP1 local shuttle bus service had its official launch on Friday 16 October, with local MP Olly Glover joining representatives from Wantage Town Council, Oxfordshire County Council and Grove Business Park on a special inaugural trip from Grove Business Park to the town centre.

The Alfred Flier provides an important direct link between Wantage, Grove and the Park, improving connectivity for local residents, workers and businesses across the area.

A partnership brought to life

The launch marks an important milestone in Wantage Town Council’s commitment to improving local transport. The service has been made possible through collaboration between Wantage Town Council, Grove Business Park and Oxford University Endowment Management, whose significant support and funding has helped bring the project to life. Funding from Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council enabled the purchase of the buses.

The Alfred Flier buses are fully branded and easily recognised. A full timetable for the new BP1 service is available on the Wantage Town Council website and on Grove Business Park’s website.

What they are saying

Olly Glover, MP for Didcot and Wantage, said: “It is great to see the Alfred Flier officially launching to serve communities between Wantage, Grove and Grove Business Park. This new service will make it easier for people to access employment opportunities and link the expanding Business Park with the town centre, bringing more access to public transport for local communities and helping to reduce reliance on car journeys.”

Councillor Iain Cameron, Mayor of Wantage, said: “The launch of Alfred Flier is a fantastic achievement and the result of many months of partnership working. This new service will provide an important transport link between Wantage, Grove and Grove Business Park, making it easier for people to access employment opportunities while offering a valuable new transport option for the area. We are delighted to see Alfred Flier take to the road.”
