Early-stage investment – impacts of Covid-19

Our research into the impact of the Covid-19 siutation on innovation-based companies shows that attracting investment and cash-flow are major concerns, based on our survey of Oxfordshire-based businesses.

The Government announced the Future Fund to support risk-capital backed companies on 20th April, 2020.  However, our early assessment suggests that this intervention is unlikely to support early-stage investment (pre-series A level investment) and companies that have not already raised at least £250k will not be eligible.  We are now reaching out to the investment community to gather their views on early-stage investment and the likely impact of Covid-19 on investment activity and decisions.
